Case Emission surveillance

Cybernetica EmiTrax pairs real-time modelling with sensors to track pot room dust and heavy metal emissions, providing a live overview of operational factors driving emissions and where they travel outdoors.

Our solution for complete indoor and outdoor emission surveillance, Cybernetica EmiTrax, is developed to give aluminium and metallurgical producers a continuous, reliable picture of their dust and heavy metal emissions. Adaptive pot room models and state-of-the-art dispersion modelling are combined with a distributed sensor system to monitor plant emissions and their impact on the outdoor environment.

Cybernetica EmiTrax

  • Automated customisable report generation
  • Detection and localisation of emissions
  • Continuous monitoring indoor and outdoor conditions
  • Flexible integration of existing measurements (continuous and periodic)
  • Support for state-of-the-art environmental dispersion models (AERMOD, pending CALPUFF)

Automated monitoring and reporting

Cybernetica EmiTrax replaces manual, after-the-fact emission reporting with continuous, automated surveillance. Measurements from distributed particulate sensors are processed in real time and consolidated into customisable reports, reducing the manual effort required to meet regulatory obligations. The system also flags emission events as they occur, so operators can identify and localise their source rather than discovering deviations only in periodic averages.

Adaptive modelling basis

The application is built on a robust modelling foundation, linking what happens inside the plant to its impact on the surrounding environment. At its core are complete pot room models for fugitive emissions from primary aluminium production, built with a tailor-made interface to each plant’s data and configuration. Data-driven algorithms allow the models to follow process variations as they happen, and the system supports the most widely used outdoor dispersion models such that results are compatible with regulatory requirements.
